A case study of the modernization of the dairy complex of VATUTIN Agricultural LLC by TCH
The TCH team has completed the full design cycle for one of the leading agricultural enterprises in Cherkasy Region — VATUTIN Agricultural LLC (Yurkivka village).
This project became a clear example of how engineering solutions can transform traditional livestock farming into a highly efficient and environmentally responsible business.
Task: Large-scale modernization without stopping operations
The client set an ambitious goal: to replace outdated facilities with a modern free-stall cattle housing system, increase milk yields, and implement European standards of humane animal treatment.
What we did (Comprehensive turnkey approach):
We took responsibility not only for the technical part, but also for the complex support of permitting documentation:
- Development of the working design: Complete planning of the facility on a 7.6-hectare site.
- EIA procedure: Successful completion of the environmental impact assessment.
- Optimization of the sanitary protection zone: Professional reduction of the enterprise’s sanitary protection zone, which made it possible to use the site as efficiently as possible.
- Expert review: Completion of the comprehensive state expert review of the project (consequence class CC2).
Engineering solutions for animal health and business profitability
The new complex is not just a group of buildings, but an intelligent ecosystem for cattle:
- Innovative milking: Design of a modern milking parlour that minimizes stress for the animals.
- Microclimate and automation: Optimal ventilation, lighting, and automated manure removal systems.
- Energy independence: Provision has been made for the installation of a powerful diesel generator to ensure uninterrupted operation of the complex.
Facility composition and infrastructure:
On a 7.6-hectare site, we designed a complete autonomous infrastructure:
- Three modern cow sheds (including one with a milking parlour).
- Waste processing system: lagoons and a pre-lagoon with a separation unit.
- Environmental safety: filtration drainage and oil product separators.
- Staff safety: A protective shelter in accordance with current regulations and well-designed rest areas.
- Logistics nodes: checkpoint, disinfection barriers, and parking spaces (taking into account the needs of people with reduced mobility).
